QHYCCD QHY163M Mono Cooled Camera

The QHY163M/C camera is an incredible value. It uses a relatively large 4/3-inch, 16 Megapixel CMOS sensor, available in both monochrome and color. The QHY163M/C has exceptionally low readout noise (as low as 1 electron!), low dark current and two-stage cooling capable of reducing the sensor temperature to -40C below ambient. The sensor chamber is sealed and the optical window is heated to prevent dew. The camera’s interface is USB 3.0 and delivers 23FPS@16 megapixel

All models include a heated optical window to prevent external dew, a desiccant plug socket to help maintain a frost-free CMOS chamber, a 128MB frame buffer, a filter wheel port, and 2-stage TE cooling to reduce the sensor temperature to -35C or -40C below ambient along with temperature regulation to maintain a constant temperature set point. Due to the efficient TE cooling, single exposures many minutes in duration are possible, making them ideally suited for deep space imaging of dim objects as well as brighter objects and planets. The Horsehead Nebula image on the reverse side is only 3 x 20 minute single-shot color exposures.
High Sensitivity
QHY163 comes in both a monochrome (QHY163M) and a color version (QHY163C). The low read noise capability of the QHY163M and mono sensor is ideal for use with narrowband filters.
For flexibility, there are a variety of connection solutions with our color filter wheel and the QHY163M camera. There is the the standard connection and a short back focus connection. Also, the optional 0.5-27.5 flexible backfocus spacer can meet any back focal length requirement.
QHY163M/C supports any size ROI, 22.5FPS @16MP full resolution, 30FPS 4K video, 57FPS 1920 x 1080 and hundreds frame per second at smaller ROI.
Applications: DSO / Narrow Band / Meteors / Spectroscopy
Because of the Super HD resolution real time video function and ultra low read noise, QHY163M/C is suitable for capturing transient phenomena, DSO imaging, spectroscopy and narrow band imaging. Signal from dim objects can sometimes be lost in read noise. But with the 1.0e- noise performance at high gain this is is far less of a problem. Even stacking multiple images of a DSO is made possible.
128MB DDR buffer
The QHY163 has a built-in 128MB DDRII image buffer. The benefit of the image buffer is that the memory will cache the image and transfer it to the computer when the USB interface is not busy or being interrupted, and the frame will not be lost or corrupted. This buffer also allows a slower computer with USB 2.0 socket to capture every frame without loss even if the USB socket is occasionally busy with other peripherals. This buffer also helps multiple camera applications and avoids USB transfer problems. For example, it is possible to operate four QHY163M cameras on the same computer to create an LRGB imaging array.
Anti-Dew Technology
With more than a decade of experience designing cooled cameras, QHYCCD has applied this knowledge to the QHY163 camera. The full anti-dew technology includes a sealed CMOS chamber with silicon gel tube socket and a heated chamber optical window. This technology prevents dew from forming on the sensor itself, or on the chamber window, even in a high humidity environment.
4-pin QHYCFW Socket
The QHY163 camera has a built-in 4-pin QHYCFW socket and it can control and power the QHYCFW2 and QHYCFW3 directly.
