APM LZOS 180mm Triplet APO f/7
The APM LZOS 180mm Triplet APO f/7 will have 5 mm more aperture and a shorter FL than the 175 f/8, the result being better transportability and faster imaging speed with a wider field. The color correction and optical quality will not differ visibly from the 175 f/8. It will offer you detail on the planets you may have never seen before. It’s an excellent CCD imaging machine as well. The newly designed, lighter CNC tube permits usage of this large Apo on transportable, medium-sized mounts.
The tubes are made in Germany with non-compromising mechanical quality. The dew cap slides smoothly over the tube without producing any paint scratches. The focuser is a full 3.5″ size. It rotates smoothly and with zero image shift. This zero shift rotation is very important when your camera has already achieved its best focus and you would like to rotate it to the best position. The finder bracket has a quick exchange style screw system and is mounted on the rotatable focuser, which allows focuser rotation to bring the finder scope to the most comfortable observing position. The focuser comes with large anodized focuser knobs and moves extremely smoothly when racking. The focuser comes with a screwed on 3.5″ / 2″ adapters and a 2″ / 1 1/4″ clamp ring style adapter to protect your eyepieces and diagonals from scratches. The tube rings are flat on both sides and offer five tapped 1/4-inch holes perpendicular to the tube line with the outer hole´s center to center spacing of 3.2″ and 2.362″. The center tapped hole can be used for different mounting plates with only a single center hole. The tube´s internal baffles are matched for a large useable photographic field. This system with the matched field flattener for full-format CCD chips and film cameras up to 6×7 cm offers an image circle of appropriate size.
About APM Apochromat
APM apochromats are manufactured according to the highest standards and comply with stringent specifications. As a result of these challenging requirements there are several companies based in different countries who are also responsible for this finish. We are proud that we are thus able to bring the world of astronomy a little closer together and are pleased to present here some background information on the elements incorporated in our telescopes.
The Russian glass specialist manufactures the high quality lenses and lens mounts for the APM Apochromats. Besides grinding and polishing, this work also includes the sophisticated application of multicoatings by vapor deposition.
