QHYCCD QHY5III290C Color USB3.0
The QHYCCD QHY5III290C Color USB3.0 uses the SONY STARVIS Exmor R back-illuminated IMX290 CMOS sensor. Available in color and monochrome. This sensor has extremely low read noise and 1920 x 1080 full-HD resolution in a 1/2.8-inch optical format sensor. This might be the highest-sensitivity sensor from Sony with such a small pixel size. The QHY5III290M can be regarded as the next generation in monochrome planetary cameras after the
Starvis means you can see very dim stars in real time video. The QHY5III290 can capture magnitude 9 stars with a 50mm F/1.4 C-mount lens. Compared to the IMX236 sensor, for example, the IMX290 has twice sensitivity for visible light and three or more times the sensitivity in near infrared.
The QHY5III290 also has ultra low read noise. The back-illumination and low read noise make this camera an ideal video astronomy camera. The small 2.9um pixel size is also ideal for planetary imaging.
The QHY5III290 has a fast USB 3.0 interface and produces 135FPS at full HD output . The camera has 10/12-bit ADC and it outputs an 8-bit or 12-bit image.
QHY5III290 is available in both mono (QHY5III290M) and color (QHY5III290C) versions.
The unique QHYCCD design retains the 1.25-inch eyepiece design of the QHY5-II series but adds features for better cooling. This design is more efficient in transfer of heat to the outer case enabling lower noise especially in high ambient temperatures. The 1.25 inch design also offers the shortest possible backfocus, making the camera ideal for off-axis guiding. In addition, the QHY5III290 uses a more robust LEMO style connector for the guide port. These connectors are known for being both rugged and reliable.
USB3.0 Super Speed
QHY5III series cameras use a 5Gbps USB3.0 interface. With a maximum 350MByte/second image transfer speed, the cameras produce the high frame rate ideal for high speed planetary imaging.
Advanced Heat Design
The QHY5III design helps transfer the heat generated by the sensor to the metal case of the camera quickly and then to the cooling fins and telescope eyepiece holder.
Aircraft Spec Socket
The QHY5III has an extremely stable 5-pin aircraft spec socket for the guide port.
