Camera Adequate, Merchant Disappointing

In your email to me you asked me how I am enjoying the camera. The camera seems to work well enough. That is a credit to the manufacturer.
You had the product in stock, and you get credit for that. Your performance getting it to me is another matter.
Here's how it played out:
I ordered online. Your website said you had the product in stock. It also said that if the product was purchased before a certain time of day, that the product would be shipped that day. I made the purchase about an hour and a half before the cutoff time, which I considered reasonable for same-day shipping. You sent me an email confirming you had expedited shipment that day. I was given a tracking number. You emailed me that the package was shipped the same day. Information provided by the shipper indicated the package was collected about midday the following day. I grant that this is a technical detail, but I don't like being told things that are not true.
Your website said that shipping was free for purchases over a specified amount. The amount of my purchase qualified for free shipping. Turns out that I made an incorrect assumption that shipping would reasonably take into account that time is of the essence in receiving the product, and that you would do your best to get it to me as soon as reasonably possible taking that into account. To my disappointment I saw later in your fine print that you were shipping by ground - the slowest possible way it could have been shipped.
In the meantime the shipper failed to post updates on shipping progress, and their estimated delivery date came and went. I felt obliged to get them to put a trace on the package.
In your fine print you say you estimate delivery time to my part of the country at about six days. The actual delivery time was fifteen days.
Don't excuse your responsibility for what happened with the shipper. I think I can safely assume that your "free shipping" was at the cheapest possible rate, and you get what you pay for. Had I known at the time of purchase how you were going to ship this I would have happily paid the additional cost for the shipping, because the time lost not having use of the camera was a much bigger deal than a few extra dollars shipping cost.
I did not see anywhere on your website that allowed for a choice in how the product could be shipped. It looks like I would have had to call you to discuss shipping. It would have been nice to have been able to have a selection of clearly explained shipping choices online from which to choose.
This is my second experience with Astronomy Plus, and while both have been memorable, regrettably both have been disappointing. You are not making it very easy for me to want to keep you foremost in mind for future purchases, or for word-of-mouth recommendations.

Dear Mr. Disher,

First and foremost, we’re truly sorry that your experience with us was not up to your expectations. We completely understand your frustration regarding the shipping delay.

While we do offer free shipping, we acknowledge that delivery speed is an important factor. Since you are located on BC Island—essentially the farthest point from our shipping location—it is challenging for us to secure fast delivery rates while still covering the shipping cost entirely. We do our best to provide an estimated timeframe, which for BC is typically around 5 open business days. However, since we are not the shipping carrier ourselves, we cannot guarantee delivery times. That being said, we completely understand that waiting an additional 4 open business days was inconvenient for you.

We want to assure you that when shipping rates are reasonable, we always select the fastest shipping method available. However, if the cost exceeds the budget we allocate for free shipping, we unfortunately have to opt for ground shipping.

As a gesture of goodwill, we have applied a $15 credit to your account for a future purchase. We also want to assure you that we are actively working on a solution to allow express shipping selection on our website. The reason this option is not yet available is that rates vary significantly based on location and package size. However, we always welcome customers to reach out to us if they require a faster shipping method—we are happy to offer express options at a reduced cost upon request.

Additionally, we always review order comments, so if you have specific shipping requests—such as a preferred carrier or a delivery deadline—we encourage you to mention them in your order. If we can accommodate your request within our shipping budget, we will do so; if not, we will contact you with the option to pay the difference.

We truly appreciate your business and the time you took to share your feedback. We hope to improve your experience in the future. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything else we can do for you.

Best regards,
Marika Broquet, Manager

I love this small camera. Very high contrast. Excellent for guiding.

Positive and good experience with Astronomy Plus - my ASI220MM arrived on time and I was able to integrate it with my Antlia OAG & Filter Drawer without difficulty. First light for this configuration was successful with excellent guiding (0.35"-0.55" RMS) and resulting image clarity.
