Baader 2" BBHS Mirror Diagonal with 2" ClickLock
The Baader 2" BBHS Mirror Diagonal with 2" ClickLock brings silver into the 21st Century. Silver has always been a superior coating to aluminum coatings (even 'enhanced' aluminum), due to its higher reflectivity across the visual spectrum. However, until now, even overcoated silver mirrors exhibited inferior durability to aluminum. Baader's new proprietary hard dielectric coating process seals and protects the silver layer to give durability the equal of aluminum. Baader's BBHS dielectric coatings deliver high reflectivity across a wider visual spectrum, resulting in improved color contrasts when compared to aluminum and all-dielectric mirrors. The silver coatings also deliver noticeably less scatter than all-dielectrics, resulting in improved contrast that rivals a top quality prism. The 2" Clicklock non-marring eyepiece holder delivers the same acclaimed simplicity and security as its smaller 1.25" Clicklock cousin. With an effortless 20degree twist of the rubber knurled ring (which also includes a convenient fingertip lever) , the clicklock holder clamps 2" eyepieces so securely you can lift your scope with them. The unique action utilizes 3-point clamping which positively and accurately locks 2" eyepieces without any of the wobbling and misalignment that can occur with single point clamps. The Baader 2" BBHS Mirror Star Diagonal incorporates another unique feature. The 2" Clicklock Holder and 2" nosepiece can both be removed, to expose 2"x24tpi threads, permitting integration of the diagonal into additional configurations through the use of the Astro T-2 System components. SCT Users: The diagonal body's input 2" threading is compatible with the standard Celestron/Meade 2" rear cell threads, enabling you to directly thread it onto your SCT. NexStar 8 or 8i users will find that this diagonal couples close enough to swing through zenith without hitting the RA base! Please note, an additional Baader SCT LockRing is required for direct attach to SCTs.
BBHS Coatings
Exclusively available on Baader Sitall Ceramic Mirrors and on selected Baader prism Star Diagonals: BBHS® reflection coatings predominantly are being utilised on our highest quality grade 2" BBHS® Sitall Stardiagonals (#2456115 – incl. black housing and 2" ClickLock clamp) as well as on the BBHS® T-2 Sitall Stardiagonal (#2456103) - where the housing features a male and female T-2 thread - for shortening the optical path with bino use, and to offer the utmost in adaptation variability as well as much more light throughput than with any conventional 1 1/4" star diagonal. BBHS® stands for Broad Band Hard Silver. When applied onto our Sitall (zero expansion glass-ceramics) substrates, these multiple deposited layers of hard silver are being sealed by a set of dielectric layers to achieve long term durability. With this advance in coating technology our BBHS® coating lifetime equals that of a high quality AlSiO2 coating, matching the durability of standard aluminium coated diagonals (and telescope mirrors) which have been in wide use for many years. The BBHS® spectral bandpass is much wider though, when comparing with our 50 layer all dielectric coatings utilized on the 2" ClickLock Star Diagonals.
