IDAS NB2 Nebula Booster Filter H-alpha & OIII
The IDAS NB2 Nebula Booster Filter is a dual line-pass filter (H-alpha & OIII) which can be used with one-shot color (OSC) cameras such as DSLR's or astronomical OSC cameras. Passing the red Hα and the blue-green OIII lines, the NB2 filter enhances the contrast of the dominant lines found in emission nebulae without the time-consuming use of single-band filters. The resulting images can be used for luminance contrast enhancement of traditional RGB-balanced images or creation of images in various popular false-color palettes. Note that a base filter which provides IR blocking is required in combination with this filter. The NGS filter provides the IR blocking required for using the NB2 filter. IDAS NB Filters are designed to enhance the contrast of emission nebula, yet accommodate the filter spectral shift*when used with modern fast optical systems. All interference filters are subject to a bandpass spectral shift which depends on the angle of incidence of the incoming light. IDAS NB filters are designed to accommodate the spectral shift of modern fast optical systems. When placed in front of an optical system, the spectral shift is determined by the focal length of the optics and the size of the imaging sensor. For an APS-C sensor, up to a 50mm focal length can be accommodated. For a full-frame sized sensor, up to an 80mm focal length can be used. For filters placed between the optical system and imaging sensor, the situation is more complex. IDAS NB filters are designed with modern fast optics in mind and can accommodate an angle of incidence of up to 14°.

IDAS Filter Technology
A chain is only as good as its weakest link. This applies as well to an optical system such as a telescope/filter/imager system. With this in mind, IDAS filters are manufactured using unique technologies that result in quality that meets or exceeds that of the rest of your optical imaging system:
IGAD (Ion-Gun Assist Deposition) This coating technology was originally developed for the optical communications field where long-term stability (>25 years) over harsh field conditions is required.IDAS is the first manufacturer to apply this technology to astronomical filters. This results in superior filters with robust coatings and long-term spectral stability even under temperature and humidity extremes. This stability is especially important for bandpass curves with steep slopes such as H-alpha, LPS filters, and other narrow bandpass filters. IGAD filters virtually eliminate bandpass shifts from the +/-3 or 4nm typical of standard coating filters.
MBT (Multi Band-pass Technology) This is technology originally developed for biomedical microscopes, but improved by IDAS by combining it the IGAD hard-coating technology described above. The excellent filter responses possible with this technology allows IDAS to create very complicated filters for astronomical use such as the unique LPS filter.
UFP (Ultra Fine Polish) Finishing IDAS filters are polished twice as long as is typical for optical glass. In combination with the use of high-quality substrate glass, no scratches, bubbles, or other defects are visible even under microscopic inspection.
