The PENTAX PF-80 ED series of spotting scopes feature a large 80mm objective lens and PENTAX smc optics to maximize light transmission, clarity, and contrast even under the most demanding conditions.
Features
Housed in a lightweight magnesium-alloy body, the PF80-EDA spotting scope has a unique design with the eyepiece section slanted 45 degrees upwards to assure maximum viewing comfort for the viewer even during many hours of observation in the field. It also features the time-proven porro-prism optics and a large 80mm objective lens incorporating ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to produce a sharp, clear image with minimal chromatic aberration. Its American-standard eyepiece receptacle, 31.7 millimeters (1.25 inch) in diameter, accepts one of six optional eyepieces of varying magnification to satisfy many different viewing requirements. This receptacle also has a dust-shielding glass to make the scope barrel airtight and waterproof (rated JIS Class 6).* Coupled with a nitrogen-injected barrel, this special mechanism prevents the internal fogging caused by sudden temperature changes.
Because of its superb image quality, interchangeable eyepieces and viewer-friendly angled eyepiece design, the Pentax PF-80EDA Spotting Scope can be used for a wide range of subjects and performs flawlessly even under highly demanding conditions in the field.
The PF-80EDA offers a host of other outstanding features, including: a built-in lens hood to cut excessive light and keep the objective lens free of dust and rain, effortless focusing via an accessible focusing knob, a built-in tripod socket with click-stop rotation mechanism, a long 20mm eye relief for easy viewing, and a rubber housing to protect the internal components and mechanisms from shock and damage.
For the PF-80EDA Spotting Scope, Pentax offers six optional interchangeable eyepieces to meet individual requirements: five fixed-focus XL-type models with magnifications of 18.5, 25, 37, 50 and 74 times, and one zoom model offering a magnification range of 21 to 63 times. All these eyepieces are commonly used for astronomical telescopes and are renowned for their outstanding image reproduction.
Pentax also offers the PF-CA35 Camera Adapter, which converts the PF-80EDA into a 1000mm F12.5 super-telephoto lens for use with Pentax K-mount 35mm SLR cameras.
Extended eyecup allows for variable adjustment to accommodate eye relief for the individual user.
