The QHY811 Pro is a next-generation medium-format scientific imaging system engineered for ultra-high-resolution astrophotography, professional observatories, and advanced research applications requiring exceptional sensitivity, precision, and data fidelity. At the core of the QHY811 Pro is the Sony IMX811 back-illuminated (BSI) sensor, delivering an extraordinary 245-megapixel resolution across a large 4.1-inch format with a 64.84 mm diagonal, enabling unmatched field of view and fine spatial detail in a single exposure.
The 2.81 μm pixel size provides a balanced combination of resolution and sensitivity, making the camera suitable for both wide-field survey work and high-resolution imaging of faint deep-sky objects. With a native 16-bit ADC, the QHY811 Pro captures up to 65,536 grayscale levels per pixel, ensuring precise tonal gradation and accurate photometric data critical for scientific analysis and high-dynamic-range imaging.
Thanks to its back-illuminated architecture, the sensor achieves higher quantum efficiency by minimizing photon loss through internal wiring, significantly improving sensitivity and performance in low-light conditions. The camera features extremely low read noise (as low as 1.2e⁻) and a full well capacity of 28,000 electrons, allowing it to capture faint signals while preserving bright highlights without saturation. A key differentiator is its support for true hardware-based FD (charge-domain) binning, which increases signal-to-noise ratio up to 4× without introducing additional noise, unlike conventional digital binning methods. The QHY811 Pro supports both USB 3.0 and high-speed dual 10Gb fiber optic data interfaces, ensuring reliable, high-bandwidth data transfer for large image files generated by its ultra-high-resolution sensor.
For thermal stability and noise reduction, the camera includes a dual-stage TEC cooling system with optional liquid cooling support, enabling operation at low temperatures and minimizing dark current down to approximately 0.00053 e⁻/pixel/sec at -30°C.
Additional integrated features such as a built-in 2GB DDR3 image buffer, anti-dew heater, humidity sensor, and internal air circulation system ensure reliable long-duration imaging and reduced maintenance, even in remote or automated observatory setups. The QHY811 Pro also offers flexible exposure control from 20 microseconds to 3600 seconds, programmable trigger interfaces, and compatibility with external filter wheels, making it adaptable to a wide range of imaging workflows from high-speed capture to long-exposure deep-sky acquisition.
