I bought this 102skymax explicitly for the moon and planets. The night it came was clear so I turned its gaze upon Saturn. And was pleasantly surprised at what I could see, then came the moon, Just Wow optics put me in a crater. everything seemed to work correctly, the focuser was responsive and easy to set, The 1.25 barrel handled the Neptune mono camera and IR pass filter with no problem, lag, sag or tilt with pretty good lunar tracking up to 5000 frames.
I totally loved the little packing transport bag as I am running out of prime telescope real estate on my benches. this light weight little instrument has earned a spot on my calendar once a month for planetary when I cant get the deepsky in as my now official grab and go. I also turned to a globular cluster and ran longer exposures and the telescope seems to have come perfectly collimated and offers no real discernible chromatic abortion with sharp round stars.
I can offer the honest opinion that this Starwatcher telescope just makes sense when nothing else wants to cooperate, just go with it and shoot the moon.
