Starizona HyperStar 8" V4 (EdgeHD / Standard)
The HyperStar 8 lens converts a standard Celestron 8" SCT from f/10 to f/1.9, making the system 25 times faster. That means 25-times shorter exposures! Now you can capture deep-sky images without guiding and without an equatorial wedge (in alt-az configuration). The HyperStar lens shortens the focal length of the telescope, giving a much wider field of view, and giving a greater tolerance of tracking errors, allowing for unguided, alt-az imaging.
Ordering the HyperStar just got easier.
1- One HyperStar for both EdgeHD and Non-EdgeHD Telescopes
Whether you have an EdgeHD optical tube or not, you can now order the same HyperStar.
HyperStar’s with EdgeHD variants now include an EdgeHD Adapter Ring to work with
Regular Non-EdgeHD and EdgeHD optical tubes. No more picking between Standard or
HD HyperStars. One for all.

2- HyperStars now include a Standard Camera Adapter
We are now pre-packaging HyperStars with the most common camera adapter on the market. We call this our Standard Camera Adapter.
The Standard Camera Adapter accepts a single 2” mounted M48 filter and works with cameras that have M42 threads and 17.5mm backfocus. These will be included and pre-packed with the HyperStar even if you are purchasing another camera adapter or upgrading to the Starizona Filter Slider.

3- HyperStar Filter Slider Upgrades are sold separately and include more
For those who want easier filter changes or need larger camera threads, the Starizona HyperStar Filter Slider Upgrade is now available as a separate add-on package.
This upgrade includes the Starizona Filter Slider along with multiple threaded top plates, giving customers more flexibility for different camera setups. It is especially useful for cameras that require M54 threads, while still providing the convenience of a removable 2" filter drawer.
HyperStar 8
The HyperStar 8 replaces the secondary mirror of any Fastar-compatible C8 SCT and transforms it from a f/10 planetary scope into a f/1.9 imaging powerhouse — 25× faster, with a coma-free field over 4° wide. No guiding, no equatorial wedge required.

Camera Compatibility
The Standard Camera Adapter included with every HyperStar 8 has an M42 threaded top and is pre-set for cameras with 17.5 mm of backfocus and accepts 2" mounted M48 Filters.
Filter Slider Upgrade
Swap your choice of narrowband or broadband filters at the focal plane without ever touching the camera. Comes with both M42M and M54M swappable top plates and ready for cameras with 17.5mm of backfocus.

FAQ
Do I need the Filter Slider to use filters with the HyperStar?
No. The Standard Camera Adapter that ships with every HyperStar has an M42 threaded top that accepts one 2" mounted filter — ideal for a broadband, dual-band or IR-cut filter with a one-shot color camera. The Filter Slider is a helpful upgrade for monochrome shooters or anyone wanting to change filters throughout your imaging session.
What cameras does the included adapter work with?
The Standard Camera Adapter is M42-threaded and pre-set for 17.5 mm backfocus — which covers most popular cooled astrocameras. If your camera needs a different thread size or backfocus, check out our HyperStar Adapter page.
Are HyperStars hard to focus?
Not really. A Bahtinov mask, an autofocuser like the EAF, or any software showing FWHM all work well. The fast f/ratio does make backfocus more critical — which is why our adapters are machined with precise accuracy.
What telescopes are compatible?
Any factory Fastar-compatible C8 SCT. Older non-Fastar scopes can be upgraded with our C8 Conversion Kit. The HyperStar 8 works on both standard C8 and EdgeHD 8 OTAs thanks to the included EdgeHD Adapter Ring.
Will I need spacers for correct backfocus?
No. Every HyperStar ships with the correct adapter already set to the right backfocus. Install the HyperStar, attach your camera, and start imaging.
If I have a Non-EdgeHD HyperStar can I use the EdgeHD Adapter Ring?
Yes — non-HD v3 and v4 HyperStars can use the EdgeHD Adapter Ring to mount on the same-size EdgeHD OTA. The HyperStar 9.25 is unique and works on both standard and EdgeHD 9.25 tubes without any additional adapter.
