For RASA 8 users, the Starizona RASA 8 Filter Holder lets you run standard 2" filters with cameras that can’t use a Filter Slider.
Starizona’s Filter Slider for the Celestron RASA 8" telescope is a popular option.
However, the very short backfocus means only certain ZWO cameras fit that setup.
This Filter Holder is designed for cameras that are not compatible with the Filter Slider.
It supports common models like the ZWO ASI2600 and ASI071.
It also works with other brands, including Altair, Atik, QHY, Mallincam, and more.
The holder uses a standard 2" mounted filter.
This makes it a straightforward path to adding light pollution, narrowband, or other filter types.
The RASA 8 Filter Holder includes a 5mm M42 spacer.
With the spacer installed, it provides 17.5mm of backfocus.
That matches the most common camera backfocus requirement.
Other spacers are optionally available for different camera setups.
Without any spacer, the maximum usable backfocus is 22.5mm.
Installation is simple and follows the optical layout of the telescope.
Remove the optical window that comes installed in the RASA 8.
Then install a standard 2" mounted filter in the Filter Holder.
The holder replaces the standard camera adapter flange from the RASA.
It is secured using the stock lock ring.
Slots are included so you can still access the collimation screws on the RASA.
For best results, confirm your camera’s backfocus and spacer stack before imaging.
